Goodwill football games with EKF team
In celebration of the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the Asian Games, an EKF football team was formed with children from British, German, and French schools in Korea. Sponsored by UNICEF, UNESCO, KFA, and UNDP, and assisted by European companies in Korea as well as well-known Korean businesses, the EKF Team fosters friendship and peace through goodwill matches with local Korean youth teams. The EKF Team will also play in goodwill games with children from Japan, China, and North Korea, actively promoting peace and friendship throughout the world.

The first match of the EKF Team
Date: March 23, 2002
Place: Training Center of the Korean National Football team in Paju
Opponent: Ansan Kwangdeok Elementary School football team
Match Description: The EKF team played in its first goodwill match since its establishment. The winner, Ansan Kwangdeok Elementary School football team, received UNESCO¡¯s Friendship Prize. It was a meaningful game, which was joined by the invited guests from the Korean Football Association, KOWOC, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNDP, and the press.
The second match of the EKF Team
Date: April 20, 2002
Place: Training Center of the Korean National Football Team in Paju
Opponent: Seoul Jamjeon Elementary School football team
Description: The winning Jamjeon Elementary School football team was awarded the UNICEF Friendship Prize.
The third match of the EKF Team
Date: May 18, 2002
Place: SOS Village in Seoul
Opponent: A coalition team of Seoul SOS Village, Angels¡¯ Haven, Myeongjin
Orphanage, Dongmyeong Children¡¯s Welfare Center, and Boys¡¯ Home in Busan.
Description: The winner received the UNDP trophy. Souvenirs from European
companies were also distributed to all players.

| A Bridge for Peace Essay Contest |

| In conjunction with the UNDP and the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, EKF held an English essay contest for elementary and middle school students in Korea. The theme of the essay contest was ¡°Do you think that sport can help build up peace and mutual understanding between people? Why? And how?¡±
The two winners of the contest will receive Peace Prizes with the autograph of French football star Zinedine Zidane. They will also be invited to the UNDP Head Office in New York and the UN Headquarters in Geneva for the World Peace Day (September 21), proclaimed by Korea, and have the opportunity to share their essays with the world.
